The Traffic Relief Plan is a local strategy to improve traffic flow and safety, keep infrastructure in good condition, reinforce infrastructure from flooding and natural hazards, and drive economic development in the Coachella Valley. Examples of investments include but are not limited to:

Reconstruct bridges, on- and off-ramps on I-10 including Monroe St. and Jackson St., and build new connections to I-10 at Ave. 50 and Portola Ave.
Build new bridges and on- and off-ramps that separate local traffic from highway traffic at Route 86 and Ave. 52, Ave. 62 and 66th Ave.

Improve Highway 111 to reduce bottlenecks and congestion
Widen I-10 east of Cook Street

Invest in passenger train infrastructure and services, such as train stations, that connect the Coachella Valley to Los Angeles, Orange County, and Riverside

Improve traffic flow by synchronizing traffic signals and new mobility concepts that connect the workforce to the workplace and to reduce seasonal and event-related traffic congestion

Upgrading infrastructure to eliminate or reduce road closures associated with natural disasters such as flooding and blowing sand
